There’s a lot of work that goes into making a video game and you probably spend most of your time thinking about the mechanics of it. Who programmed it? How long did it take? What bugs did they miss? How often do they update? If you’re not much of a gamer, you probably think of video games as being made primarily or entirely on computers, by programmers, but there’s a lot more work that goes into it, and it comes from a lot of different sources.
Voices
Voice acting work used to be just for animated films, radio and eventually audio books, but voice acting companies Boston MA and your area have branched out into the world of video games as well. It’s a difficult trade. Many of the lines spoken by the main player or by non-player characters may be repeated hundreds of times before you finish the game, so choosing a good voice actor is really key.
Writing
Video games can require a lot of written texts and scripts. The longer and more story-driven the game is, the more writing is required. If your main character has different dialogue options that lead to different results, then that means even more writing as the script branches out further and further.
Music
Last but not least, the soundtrack. The soundtrack on a video game is just as important as the soundtrack for a movie. In fact, it’s arguably more important, because while a movie is at most three or four hours long, the best video games often start at twenty hours and only get longer from there.
The point is this: a lot more than programming goes into the creation of your favorite video games. It doesn’t hurt to take a moment to appreciate all the parts that go into the brilliant storytelling of your favorite video games.
